ABOUT US
WE UNDERSTAND CONSTRUCTION, BECAUSE WE WORK IN CONSTRUCTION.
We are legal experts in construction contracts. We work with people who are tired of traditional rule-based construction contract and project management philosophies that requires a push down of risks. Hi, I am Patricia and I am the founder of Haywood Commercial. I have a long history and experience in the construction industry, having worked at every level of the supply chain.
I am a trained Barrister, author and have worked on the legal side, the main contractor side, subcontractor side, the employer side and the government side. I have experience working on large-scale projects in international trade, development, energy (oil and gas and renewables), and infrastructure (rail and transportation). So, I have a holistic view of project management and stakeholders.
At Haywood Commercial, we work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction companies on their contracts, from cradle to grave, including:
Contract review, analysis and reports
Contract amendment and drafting
Contract strategy and strategy alignment
Contract compliance, including setting up systems and processes
Contract due-diligence
Best practices for contract management and administration

our mission
Do you know the real story of Carillion?
Carillion was the 2nd largest construction firm in the UK
> 400 public sector contracts
Suppliers wait >120 days for payment
Abused the Supply Chain Finance Scheme
When Carillion went under, it owed:
>£2bn - over 30,000 suppliers
How did it get away with this?
Suppliers didn’t understand the payment pyramid.
They provided their suppliers with unbalanced contracts.
Many suppliers didn’t negotiate the terms.
Many suppliers didn’t do their due diligence.
Many suppliers had no systems and processes in place for the payment risk.
